A New Home for Mitt?
Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleIt’s a solution for which the timing couldn’t be more perfect. With Romney’s dreams of moving into the Presidential White House having gone up in smoke, and since it goes without saying that he loves real estate, this carefully detailed replica of the original White House, located in McLean, Virginia should be a perfect fit, . . .well, other than being a "mine is larger than yours" ego buster for Mitt.
Aside from making one stop and take pause, this amazing estate has its own fascinating story. In the early 1990s, an immigrant New Zealand engineer wanted to honor his new country to show how appreciative he was to be living in the United States. He came up with the idea of creating a duplicate White House for his own home. He engaged an architect who began a two-year project of creating scaled down plans from the original White House plans. His plans included finite details including duplicating the moldings and other fine architectural details of the interior. The house was three years under construction using the best materials. The engineer and his family proudly lived on this estate until now when it has been put on the market for the first time.
The White House twin consists of over 12,000 square feet of living space - the Presidential White House contains 55,000 square feet - including the Oval Room, Lincoln and State Rooms as well as the Truman Balcony. Modern day luxuries include 6 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, a sauna, theatre, library, gym, wine cellar and a party room for over 100 guests. Extras include 22 skylights. An elevator makes all levels easily accessible - except for cars. But that’s OK, Mitt already knows how to handle that.
