America's Most Expensive Home!
Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleBuilt by billionaire David Saperstein and his former wife of 23 years, Suzanne, in 2002, this 35,046sf super-mega mansion now belongs to Suzanne, which is one of the perks she won in her divorce settlement from David. She got the house - he got the nanny. With three grown children, it is too large a home to rattle around in alone and she put it on the market soon after the divorce was final. In an interview with WMagazine, she said she "felt like Gatsby . . after the party was over." While awaiting a sale, Suzanne will be placing her Fleur de Lys’ collection of 18th Century French furniture and decorative arts up for auction with Sotheby’s, including some Italian and Russian art and a first-edition book collection. She had previously purchased Karl Lagerfeld’s entire collection of Louis XV furniture and had an exact replica of Marie Antoinette’s bed recreated.
The house is said to be inspired by France’s 17th Century Vaux-le-Vicomte and displays the likeness in the Italian marble walls, gold-embossed leather wall coverings, gold-leafed crown moldings and French limestone floors. There are also 12 bedrooms, 15 baths, 2 kitchens and a screening room that will seat 50. The ballroom is stunning with its ceiling frescoes and heavy use of gold leaf. Outside there is a 3 bedroom manager’s house, a 9-car garage, ¾ mile jogging track and staff quarters large enough to house 10.
Though David married the nanny, Suzanne is all about having fun and enjoying her new freedom. In the meantime, we’ll be watching for news of a possible sale.
Bel Air, California’s Fleur de Lys, America’s most expensive home is priced at $125m.
