A billionaire couple, Stewart and Lynda Resnick, have listed the most expensive home in the United States. Little Lake Lodge in Aspen, Colorado has just hit the market at $300 million. With over 27,000 square feet on 74 acres just a mile from downtown Aspen, the home has all the features a billionaire couple would expect, including 18 bedrooms, 20 full bathrooms and a trout-filled private lake.
Southampton Beach Named #1 in USA
After years of Florida and Hawaii beaches getting Dr. Beach's #1 ranking, Cooper's Beach in Southampton got the honor this year. Dr. Beach credited the beach's location, white sand, towering dunes, and public transportation for the recognition.
Top 10 Unaffordable US Home Markets
Home prices are not affordable for many Americans, especially in California where five of the top ten unaffordable towns are located, including San Jose, Los Angeles, Oxnard, San Diego and San Francisco.
US Home Prices Rise 2.9%
While home prices in much of the country have declined, overall prices are up 2.9% from the second quarter of 2024 to the second quarter of 2025. Home prices rose in 81 of the 100 largest US metropolitan areas since early 2024.
America's Blooming Buyers' Market
The years-long home sellers market is now trending to buyers. According to data from Realtors.com, Zillow and RE/MAX, more people are trying to sell their homes, homes are taking longer to sell, and price cuts are common. According to Realtor.com, US homes for sale in June jumped almost 30% compared to 2024, reaching the one million mark for the first time since 2020.
Marilyn Monroe's Home Saved from Demolition
Marilyn Monroe purchased only one house during her 36-year lifetime, when she bought a home in LA's Brentwood neighborhood in early 1962—just a few months before her overdose death from sleeping pills. She paid $75,000 for the partially furnished home and her mortgage payments were only $320 a month. The current owners bought the home in 2023 for $8.35 million and planned to tear it down to expand their own next-door home. A judge has denied the current owners' plan to demolish the home.
Richard Gere's Connecticut Home Demolished
The New Cannan, Connecticut home that Richard Gere sold to a real estate developer in 2024 for $10.75 million has been demolished. Richard bought the 8,800-square-foot home in 2022 from singer Paul Simon for $10.85 million. The 32-acre property will be subdivided for construction.
America's Best Small Retirement Town
One of Florida's most popular beach towns has been named America's best small retirement town by GOBankingRates.com. The financial website cited Panama City Beach's friendliness, beautiful beaches, 320 days of sunshine, affordability, and Florida's no state income tax as reasons for their nomination as the country's best small retirement town.
Kanye's Malibu Mansion Saga Continues
Kanye West's Malibu Beach home that he bought in 2021 for $57.3 million but then gutted, abandoned and sold for $21 million has hit a new snag. The 4,000-square-foot home, designed by renowned architect Tadao Ando, has bounced between several developers and is now back on the market for $34.9 million.
America's Wealthiest Suburbs
Most people think that Beverly Hills is LA's wealthiest suburb, but it is actually Palos Verdes Estates, where the average household income is $367,178, and homes are worth an average of $2.8 million. Many people have never heard of America's wealthiest suburbs, places such as Hinsdale, which is Chicago's richest suburb with an average household income of $376,366 and home values averaging $1.3 million. Pinecrest is Miami's richest area with an average household income of $312,591 and home values averaging $2.4 million.
