Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleHBO’s satirical comedy-drama Mountainhead is the latest from Jesse Armstrong, Emmy-winning creator of Succession. Starring Steve Carell, Jason Schwartzman, Cory Michael Smith, and Ramy Youssef, the show follows four tech billionaires who retreat to a secluded mountain estate for a weekend getaway, just as the world starts to spiral into chaos due to an out-of-control AI unleashed by one of them. Apart from some opening scenes, the entire film was shot at an exclusive, glass-walled ski chalet in Deer Valley, Utah. Just sold for over $50 million, the gorgeous home set a record for the most expensive property ever sold in the state of Utah.
The sprawling ridgetop masterpiece spans over 21,000 square feet. Designed by Salt Lake City-based architect Michael Upwall, renowned for his signature Mountain Modern style, the seven-level residence features a minimalist aesthetic with wood, marble, and glass elements. Seven bedrooms, sixteen bathrooms, plus multiple kitchens, dining rooms, and living rooms offer lots of space for entertaining on a grand scale, with spectacular mountain views from the floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Soaring ceilings provide stunning light-filled spaces, while a spiral staircase connects the floors in style.
The mansion’s unique amenities put it in a class of its own. The lower floors were created by scooping out over 5,000 truckloads of dirt during an epic construction process that took over six years to complete. These subterranean levels feature a full-size indoor basketball court with an LED wall, a private bowling alley, an indoor climbing wall, a golf simulator with a dynamic floor, a wine cellar with a bar, a home theater, a sauna, and a luxury wellness area.
Outside, a 5,000-square-foot heated terrace offers panoramic valley views and a fantastic infinity pool and hot tub. A private gondola, worthy of a James Bond movie, features motion sensor doors that automatically open from the home’s ski room. It seats up to six people and reaches the nearby slopes of the Deer Valley Resort in just a few minutes. The luxurious ride’s not just for ski season - during the summer, the resort hosts mountaintop concerts. The 2.6-acre property is located within an ultra-high-security gated community catering to the exclusive ski resort lifestyle.
Deer Valley is just south of Park City, famous for its ski slopes and for hosting the Sundance Film Festival. The site of the 2002 Winter Olympics and the training grounds of the United States Ski Team, it is expected to host the games again in 2034. Its charming downtown features 19th-century buildings, constructed during the area’s silver mining boom and now home to high-end shops, art galleries, restaurants, and bars. The region is beloved by ski-happy celebrities, with Lisa Kudrow, Michael Jordan, Taylor Swift, and Larry David just a few stars known to have lived in the area.
