Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleIt’s time for one last summer holiday weekend bash at the beach. Here is a look at five of the coolest beach homes now for sale in the United States.
When wishing for an endless summer, Florida’s Gulf of Mexico beaches are some of the most beautiful in the world. We hear a lot about Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Beach, but when residents in those cities want to get away, many times they choose the West Coast of Florida. Those in a hurry zip across the Alligator Alley Expressway from Ft. Lauderdale and those who want a taste of Old Florida, make the leisurely drive on Tamiami Trail through the Everglades to see flocks of migrating birds and stop at the Seminole Indian shops to browse and enjoy a snack.
One of the most interesting small cities on the west coast of Florida is Sarasota, of Ringling Brothers fame. Pioneers settled there due to the subtropical vegetation, the Myakka River and the barrier islands with their wide pristine beaches. In the late 1800s, Sarasota was where many wealthy Northerners built their winter mansions. In the 1920s, Ringling Brothers made Sarasota the winter quarters for their circus, and were instrumental in the town’s development. Both the Ringling Museum of Art and the Ringling Museum of the American Circus are located in Sarasota.
From bikini to ballgown, Sarasota is the place to be for those who love the beach and a little bit more for their vacations. The city is famous for its white sand and clean beaches. Its Siesta Beach was named the #1 beach in the country in 2011 by Dr. Beach. It is also a city with lots more to do than the ocean. A mecca for cultural arts, one can enjoy art museums, ballet, theatre, symphonies and international music festivals. For nature lovers, there are two botanical gardens, the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium and the large Myakka State Park. For sports enthusiasts there are many golf courses, sport fishing and boating. Baseball has been a big part of the area since 1924 when the New York Giants chose Sarasota as their spring training site. Today, it is the spring training camp for the Baltimore Orioles.
Built in 2000, this 7,652 square foot architectural award-winning beach house is situated in the very private and gated Sanderling Club on Siesta Key. Designed by Guy Peterson, the home takes on the colors of the spectacular Florida West Coast sunsets with delineated living areas from public to family to children’s zone identified by color-coded "cubes." With its beachfront setting on 1.53 professionally landscaped acres, the five bedroom, eight bath home is filled with light and Gulf of Mexico views. It is built for intimate or large scale entertaining and space for stay-over guests and extended family. In addition to sunning on the beach and playing in the surf, family and guests can enjoy water polo games and lap swimming in the huge pool with a slide for the children while adults relax in the oversized Jacuzzi.
Sarasota total resort beach house - priced at $12,950,000.
