Emeril LaGasse
Emeril LaGasse
Is there anyone on earth unfamiliar with super chef Emeril LaGasse? Emeril was the first to break-though in entertainment chefs. Like he says, who wants to watch someone standing at a counter quietly chopping a cucumber? How many times did the PBS cooking programs of the past send you directly into a deep Saturday afternoon nap? So, "kick it up a notch!", "Bam!". Are you awake yet? Emeril really is passionate about food and fascinated by its origins and comparisons. Of course, like most of the chefs we're writing about, he owns restaurants, does TV shows and sells cookbooks. But the entertainment factor has been primary in holding our attention to see just what it takes to put together that fabulous meal we had at his restaurant last night. Owner of 11 restaurants in four states, and writer of 12 cookbooks, Emeril also has his own line of cookware, and we've seen his name on everything from spice jars to his appearances on Good Morning America.
Though Emeril and his third wife, real estate broker Alden Lovelace, and their two children also have a large home in New Orleans, their exquisite six-story, single-family mansion in Upper East Side New York is now on the market for $15 million. At approximately 7,000 square feet, the completely renovated home is elegant in layout and decor to the last detail. Soon we will be able to see it on Selling New York. Considering the grandeur of the New York home, we'd love to see the interior of his Louisiana home!
In an apparent effort to downsize his empire, on February 19, 2008 Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia announced it had acquired the rights to all Emeril products including cookware, cookbooks, television shows and food products in a $50 million agreement. In that transaction, Emeril was said to retain rights to his restaurants and corporate offices.
