Future Baseball Hall Of Fame Pitcher!
Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleOn April 17, 2012 Jamie Moyer became the oldest pitcher to ever win a major league contest when the 49-year-old was the starting pitcher in a 5 – 3 win over the San Diego Padres. Moyer, who has been with eight major league teams including his current Colorado Rockies team, picked up his 268th career win. If he ever retires, he is destined for the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Baseball isn’t Jamie’s only interest, however. He and his wife, Karen, started The Moyer Foundation in 2002 that has created programs for children in severe distress. The Foundation is a public, non-profit organization that is headquartered in Seattle, Washington. Since its inception, the foundation has raised millions to help distressed children in a variety of ways. Two camps have been formed to outreach to children all over the country. Camp Erin is a large network of camps for children and teens who are suffering from the loss of loved ones. Camp Mariposa is for children who have been affected by addiction within the family unit. Funds are raised through community generosity and through special events, corporate partnerships and individual donations. While much is said about the huge financial contracts of professional sports, The Moyer Foundation is a wonderful example of giving back not only to the community, but making it possible for those outside the community to participate in this much needed service.
Jamie and Karen have recently placed their Seattle home on the market. The large 7,100sf home has 7 bedrooms, 5 baths and is situated on .42 acres. Though built in 1933 and somewhat traditional, the brick and wood exterior is so pristine that it gives the feeling of new construction. The interior has all of today’s must haves with screening room, family room, bonus/recreation room, 3 fireplaces, great room, den, master suite with walk-in closet and wonderful kitchen. Grounds have mature landscaping, saltwater pool, bath house, croquet yard, batting cage and an outdoor pizza oven.
Jamie Moyer’s Seattle home priced at $5,350,000.
