Montana's Tammany Castle!
Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleOn the way to the legendary horse race between 1894’s two fastest horses in the country, Marcus Daly told his horse, Tammany, that if he won the race, he would build him a castle. Tammany won, and true to his word, Marcus Daly did just that. Tammany Castle was completed in 1897.
Daly, one of the most recognized of that era’s copper kings, chose the Bitterroot Valley of Montana to develop his future 28,000 acre Stock Farm due to the mild climate and timber resources protected by the Bitterroot Range of the Rockies. Following his dream, between 1890 and 1900 his Stock Farm bred over 1,000 thoroughbreds and trotter horses, which resided on the property.
