Taylor Swift isn’t your average young superstar. Maybe that’s a lot of her attraction. She’s always seemed to be a thoughtful person with wisdom far beyond her years. Even with that, when we heard she had bought a home, we instantly had images of more glass and steel party homes hanging precariously on a cliff overlooking something "important." But not Taylor. She opted for a beautiful traditional southern plantation home in Nashville, Tennessee bound to terra firma and an illustrious historical past.

Built in 1925, Northumberland Estate consists of hundreds of acres of rolling pastures near the then small town of Nashville. The land was acquired over time by the U.S. Ambassador to Denmark, Guilford Dudley, Jr., who turned it into an equestrian farm. Over the years, Northumberland has played host to many luminaries such as Presidents Nixon, Ford and Reagan, along with a slew of famous country music artists and other celebrities. The acreage has since been subdivided and the last owners, Luke and Lauren Lewis, restored the home while adding updates and made interior decorating changes to a more sophisticated palette.

Comprised of 4,929sf, the home has 4 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, a library, sunroom and wood-burning fireplace. Floors are hardwood with marble baths, with some panelled walls and restored molded ceilings. The grounds are made up of lush lawns and inviting meandering paths through old hardwood trees and mature shrubbery with lovely spots for outdoor entertaining. It will be interesting to see if Taylor will restore the interior back to traditional southern or retain the existing, more modern style of decor.
