We would have loved to see the interior but the grounds alone charmed us. It was a home that first experienced the whirlwind romance of Artie Shaw and Lana Turner running off to elope after their very first date in the 1940’s, later to be purchased in the 1950’s by Gregory Peck. With such a romantic history, we’re sure that if any residual spirits still reside, they’re the type you want to have around. Houses do tend to pick up the character of their former owners whether it’s a rose bush positioned along a fence in a place of honor or a patio built to capture a special view. This house, though large, still gives one the "rose covered cottage" feel and in no way relates to the sleek steel and glass structures that today’s stars prefer.

Built in 1936, the house has 4,531sf, 5 bedrooms and 4.5 baths. Back then it would have been considered quite large and modern in its new "ranch" style which was architecture’s cutting edge of the day. Since no pictures of the interior were offered, it’s likely that the whole property needs a major Rip & Strip, or the sad possibility of a complete demolition. Judging by the condition of the cracked driveway and unattractive fencing both front and back, the new owners will have their work cut out for them if they decide to update the existing house.

It’s fun to imagine Gregory Peck in a chaise by the pool reading a new script . . possibly even the script for To Kill a Mockingbird.
