Richard Meier's White Castle!
Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleTaking the color white into the design hot list of style is what architect Richard Meier has been about all of his designing life. Unlike most of us, Meier saw an entire color palette in white walls the same as an artist sees in white clouds. Depending on the ever changing exterior light, white walls are also ever changing in cast shadows and reflections. Meier knew that stark white walls make the perfect backdrop for art, whether it be a painting, an ancient piece of pottery or an exquisitely executed piece of furniture. Not to say that it will equally make one focus more closely on the beauty of an old tool or piece of barn wood. Winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1984, the most prestigious honor for an architect, Meier has focused on the color white in his abstract art, his architecture and all of his geometric designs. Part of the famous New York Five, made up of important modernist architects, Peter Eisenman (his uncle), Michael Graves, Charles Gwathmey and John Hejduk, two of his most famous buildings include the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art and the Getty Center in Los Angeles.
