Ronald Reagan - Jane Wyman Home!
Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleIt’s one more story about how mansions are flying off the market this year adding to the proof of the upswing in sales. This storied Hollywood estate went on the market in June and was gone by August! Buyers today are so savvy and sophisticated that a home’s celebrity status doesn’t sway many of them but the celebrity money that put the exquisite details into the property and its location is the real attraction where nothing was spared to have the very best. It’s also kind of nice to have some interesting history about the house to relate to guests around the dinner table, and this is an unusually good one.
Ronald Reagan had two lives. Few of us remember his film years but most of us recall his political years. Interestingly, he didn’t always come with Nancy Reagan by his side. In fact, it was film star Jane Wyman who he first married and with whom he had his family. Their marriage began in 1940 and lasted until 1949, the year she won the Oscar for her role in Johnny Belinda. The relationship was lovey dovey until after the war when Jane seemed to start falling apart. Ronald thought it was because she had just lost a baby and started making the movie Johnny Belinda before she was strong enough, though he also thought his fledgling interest in politics may have also been a factor. This is the house that the two built and and where they raised their family. It wasn’t until the divorce was final in 1949 that Reagan met Nancy Davis in 1951 and they were married in 1952.
The 5,935 square foot Wyman-Reagan home is located in the hills above West Hollywood and Beverly Hills with a staggering 340-degree view of the city, ocean and mountains. Built in 1942, it has 5 bedrooms, 7 baths, north/south tennis court, lovely pool, and Balinese style pool house. The estate is currently under contract for $10,000,000.
